DESCRIPTION:
Agate is a variety of quartz used to make laboratory mortars.
These instruments are ideal for the preparation of high purity samples by crushing and mixing semi- hard and hard substances thanks to the characteristics of the mineral used in their manufacture:
- High hardness (7 on the Mohs scale), which provides great resistance to abrasion, guaranteeing non- contamination of the samples by particles detached from the
– High density (2.6 g / cm3), that is, low porosity, minimizing sample loss and reducing cross
contamination between samples.
- High resistance to the action of chemical agents (acids, bases, organic solvents, ) with the exception of hydrofluoric acid and aqua regia.
The agate mortars have an octagonal shape and the interior and the hand polished without defects. The outer surface is also evenly sanded.
